Eight vehicles caught fire around 9:30 p.m. in the parking garage on the sixth-floor in the center of Lot P3, according to White Plains Fire Chief Rich Lyman.

As firefighters used a ladder truck and pulled hoses through the garage, shoppers were evacuated in the event the fire spread, he said.

The fire was contained within 30 minutes, he said.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital from exhaustion. No one else was injured.

Lyme said the cause of the fire is under investigation and would not speculate whether it was arson or foul play.
