Assaulting An EMT Now A Felony Under State Law

The state has put more teeth into a law protecting the people who are trying to protect the public, according to a report by CBS New York.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the measure strengthening an existing law, making it a felony to assault EMTs, paramedics, and on-duty EMS officers, CBS reported.

According to CBS, the amendment came after in EMT was attacked and nearly choked to death by a man she was transporting to the hospital.
