Affordable Housing Offered In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Two affordable condominiums and one affordable home are for sale in White Plains through Community Housing Innovations and the White Plains Urban Renewal Agency, respectively, according to the city website.

A two-bedroom and a one-bedroom condo are available at 5 Minerva Place starting at $159,000, with a White Plains subsidy and a down-payment assistance grant available for those who qualify. Potential buyers must be first-time homebuyers.

The income limits to qualify to purchase one of these condos are:

  • $75,550 for one-person family
  • $86,350 for two-person family
  • $97,150 for three-person family
  • $107,900 for four-person family
  • $116,550 for five-person family
  • $125,200 for six-person family

The income limits to receive the down-payment assistance grant of up to $30,000 (based on need) are:

  • $60,400 for one-person family
  • $69,100 for two-person family
  • $77,700 for three-person family
  • $86,300 for four-person family
  • $93,200 for five-person family
  • $100,100 for six-person family

A $250,000 home at 10 Odell Ave. has three bedrooms, one bathroom and a half-bath. The Urban Renewal Agency is making sure this home also goes to a first-time homeowner.

"This home has recently been completely renovated and made available for income-qualified homeowners," Thomas Roach, mayor of White Plains, said in a video detailing the home.

Maximum eligible incomes are: family of three, $77,700; family of four, $86,300; family of five, $93,200.

Eligible applicants for both properties include White Plains City and School District employees, people who reside and are employed or retired in White Plains, and people who are employed in White Plains and wish to reside in White Plains.

City and school district employees have first priority under the city's Affordable Home Ownership Program.
