WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains City Hall has a busy week ahead. Here's a look at what will be discussed at five meetings this week:
- The Conservation Board meets at 8 p.m. Monday in the council chambers. The board will continue analyzing the proposed open space recreation district, the French-American School of New York's application for a special permit to build a school on Ridgeway, and the Salvation Army's plan to expand its building. The Conservation Board will also consider the new Sofrito Restaurant's application for a cabaret permit and Westy Storage Center's plan to add a new sign to the 179 Westmoreland Ave. building now under construction. -The Board of Education has a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the education house.
- The Planning Board will convene in the council chambers at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Residents are invited to speak about John Valera's and Bartolomeo Scalici's application to build 10 townhouses near 43 Holland Ave. and 467 to 477 N Broadway at a public hearing. Public input is also welcome on discussions on the Burke Rehabilitation Center's plan to build a house addition at 47 Chadwick Road. The planning board will then discuss the Honda of White Plains' intention to build a canopy at its 61 Bank St. location and an application for a 30-unit business building at 62 to 80 Lake Street. - The Traffic Commission meets at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the council chambers. The commission will discuss a request to review traffic surrounding the Winward School. Tami Andolino said cars back up along Winward Avenue and onto West Street during drop off and pick up hours, which could hinder emergency vehicles' access to the neighborhood in times of need. The commission will also consider a request from Elsie Lahrmann to reduce the speed limit to 25 miles per hour on several streets in the Gedney Farms neighborhood, including: Richbell Road, Easton Avenue, Ethelridge Road, Fairway Drive, Heatherbloom Road and Gedney Esplanade. Lahrmann sent a letter to the commission explaining driving concerns on behalf of the Gedney Association, which agreed that reduced speed limits should be considered at its meeting. - The Recreation Advisory Committee will gather at 7 p.m. Thursday at 85 Gedney Way.
- The Cable Access Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 11 Midland Ave.
