Each spring, club members get together to cook trays of food for the Grace Church Community Center, now known as Lifting Up Westchester. Trays of baked ziti, rice and beans and, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, corned beef and cabbage were prepared and delivered to the Grace Church soup kitchen.

Colleen Iodice and Phyllis O’Keefe, who were the 2015 coordinators, were so inspired by the sense of camaraderie and giving last year that they volunteered to take charge once again.

Club members came out in force to help with slicing, dicing, chopping and cooking. The food was then carefully wrapped and prepared for delivery and distribution to Grace Church the next day. One of the many services provided there, the soup kitchen provides meals every Monday through Friday and on holidays. This year the soup kitchens expect to provide 20,000 meals to Westchester residents.

Upcoming events at the club include a Community Forum on April 7, the Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show on April 16 and Jazz for the Gardens on June 9. The club will also be involved in collecting for Soles4Souls, a paperback book drive for the military and is currently involved in ‘’100 PB and J’s” which will be donated to a local group, which provides sandwiches for the homeless. The Woman’s Club of White Plains has been a mainstay of the community since 1916 The Club provides financial support to numerous local non-profit groups and its members volunteer thousands of hours every year. It also maintains the CV Rich Mansion, its historic home in White Plains.
