WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. There are a lot of companies who believe the easiest way to lend a hand is by way of a financial contribution. But most local businesses, like the Lazy Boy Saloon and Atlanta Bread in White Plains, dont have that kind of cash to give away. So instead, local marketer Ronnie Ram encourages them to go a step further by lending their time and resources to the organization of their choice.
With the help of his advertising firm, Inspiria Media, clients and charitable organizations can become partners by hosting an event, sponsoring volunteers who have chosen to participate in a charity-based activity, or even donating a percentage of their sale to an organization like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
My dream goal is to see every company we work with choose a charity of their choice, get their employees involved, and find ways to help patients and families with some battle, said Ram.
The marketing maven also lost two parents to cancer battles, amplifying his devotion to raise awareness on finding a cure. He is personally involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, for which he will soon participate in the 2011 Westchester Jarden Triathlon on Sept. 25. His opportunity to swim, bike and run will be sponsored in part by the folks at White Plains' Westchester Burger Co. and Ali Graphics, proving a personal relationship he's developed with his community.
Next up, Ram will work with APOGEE Pilates and Wellness Centers to host Fundraising's FIT Night Out at its Bedford Hills facility. On Sept. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., patrons can enjoy an evening of Zumba and spinning classes to generate proceeds towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Team in Training. Wine and food from Whole Foods will also be donated. By getting involved with Rams team, he says Apogee will then be able to build their brand and promote their services while helping raise money for cancer research.
I believe every company has a social responsibility to help in some way, he said.
Ram has been participating in charity events since 1999. His first contribution was as a walker in Avon's 60-mile long event, Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure.
