White Plains Native Norma Keegan Dies at 73

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Norma E. Keegan, a native of White Plains, died Friday, March 30, at the age of 73. 

She was born in White Plains Hospital on Jan. 26, 1939, to Gustav and Ruth Benson Schmidt. Keegan was a graduate of White Plains High School and was married to Edward A. Keegan, who died on Dec. 19, 2009. 

Keegan formerly worked as a substitute teaching assistant at Pocantico Hills School and was a member of the Women's Club of Pocantico Hills. She was also a member of the Morning Glories bowling team. 

Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey (Laura) Keegan of Mount Vernon, Barry (Saralee) Keegan of Cobleskill, N.Y., and Michael (Jacqueline) Keegan of Yorktown as well as five grandchildren. Keegan is also survived by her siblings, Gary Schmidt, Robert Schmidt, Donald Schmidt, Susan DiChiara, Ronald Schmidt and Lisa Clarke. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard Schmidt, and her sister, Linda Benson. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
