WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - White Plains resident Susan B. Kirtland died September 26 after a five-year battle with cancer. She was 68.
Born April 2, 1943 to Ralph and Pauline Benedict, Kirtland graduated from White Plains High School and went on to work for the Mount Pleasant local government. She served as a Town Council member as well as a member of the Planning Board in Mount Pleasant. She was also a one-time president of the Parent Teacher Association in the Mount Pleasant School District.
She is survived by her sons, Norman (Marylu Mitreuter) Kirtland of Manhattan and Scott (Elizabeth) Kirtland of White Plains, her brothers Fred Benedict and Ralph Benedict. Kirtland was predeceased by her sister Bernice DeFonce.
Visitation will be held at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
