Rori Sagal considers herself to be the face of the Greater Hudson Bank in White Plains, N.Y. In the banking field since the late 1970s, Sagal says her position as assistant vice president and Westchester relationship manager is truly a gift: She stays active within the community while representing the area's new bank.
Sagal attends many networking events and confesses that she is known to even carry her business cards in her evening bag. She says you never know when you will meet someone whom you can help or can help you. It is a mutual thing.
Sagal believes people have forgotten that banking can have a personal touch. Greater Hudson is just the right size to provide opportunities but still offer that, she says. You get used to dealing with the super big banks. It is nice to be able to call somebody and reach the person rather than an automated message.
Her involvement in many community service activities is one of the best parts of the position for Sagal. She serves on the Wear Red Leadership Council and is active in the Business Council of Westchester and Westchester County Association. She is also the board treasurer for Kids X-Press, a magazine totally created by kids.
Sagal also works with teens through NFTE, or Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship. The national program has classes taught in area high schools, challenging students to start businesses and develop business plans. The local business community coaches them throughout the process. The competition winners receive funding to create their businesses. Sagal says she loves the teens' creativity each year and finds it inspiring.
Sagal views all this outreach as a way for people to see how Greater Hudson helps the community. I want people to look at me and say, 'Thats Rori from Greater Hudson Bank.'"
