What to Do This Weekend in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The weather forecast calls for steady showers and a few flurries this weekend. However, there's enough events in White Plains to get everyone out of the house. Here's a look at what's happening in White Plains this weekend:

  • ArtsWestchester will unveil its newest collage exhibit, Piecing it Together, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Eight Westchester-based artists will show work constructed out of everything from recycled aluminum cans to album covers and fabric scraps at the 31 Mamaroneck Ave. gallery through March 17.
  • The Little Radical Theatrics, Inc. will put on performances of Andrew Lippa's "The Wild Party" at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online, over the phone, or at the 1 N. Broadway theater.
  • Red Monkey Theater is bringing it's Hamlet show to the Rochambeau school theater with showings at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission to the 228 Fisher Ave. theater is $15. 
  • ML Strength is hosting a free talk that debunks myths about the dietary role fat plays. The discussion will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday at 188 E. Post Road.
  • ArtsWestchester will host a mid-winter Cajun dance at 7 p.m. Saturday. Accordian master Jesse Lege and his Bayou Brew band will provide music. Cajun/Zydeco instructors Laura and Jeremy Rice will teach newcomers. Entrance to the 31 Mamaroneck Ave. course is $15.
  • The County Center will feature the largest toy and train show in the northeast from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. New and antique toys, trains, die cast automobiles, test tracks, and games will be on display. Tickets are $10. Children under 12 get in for free.
  •  Good Counsel Academy Elementary School is hosting an open house from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. The Middle States Association-accredited academy instructs students in pre-k through eighth grade. After school clubs, sports, and extended care are offered on the 52 N. Broadway campus. For more information please call (914) 761-4423. 
  •  The Music Conservatory of Westchester students will give a concert at the White Plains Public Library and introduce attendees to the brass instrument family. Music will begin at 2:30 p.m.
  •  The White Plains Performing Arts Center invites the community to a Southern Comfort music jamboree at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tom Andersen, Scott Coulter, and Tim DiPasqua will perform contemporary songs and country tunes that date back to the 1940's. Admission to the 11 City Place show is $28 or $20 for students.
