Five students will be honored with scholarships for their academic excellence and extracurricular accomplishments at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel located at 455 South Broadway, Tarrytown.
Guest speakers include Nate “Tiny” Archibald, NBA Hall of Famer/Motivational Speaker and Clyde Cole, Educator.
The 2014 honorees are:
- Christopher Henderson (Yonkers Early College High School) who will be attending South Carolina State University, majoring in Business Administration
- Andy Martinez (Peekskill High School) who will be attending New York University, majoring in Civil Engineering
- Marcelo Rivera (Ethical Culture Fieldston School) who will be attending Brown University, majoring in International Relations
- Ivan Alton (Ossining High School) who will be attending Utica College, majoring in Biology/Pre-Med
- Kevin Quinde (Peekskill High School) who will be attending SUNY Albany, majoring in History/Pre-Law
Scholarships range from $1,000 to $1,500. Scholarship recipients from the previous three years will receive “Perseverance Stipends” ranging from $250 to $500.
Monte Suber, President of the Beta Alpha Alpha Foundation, stated, “The Foundation is proud to provide scholarships to minority male high school students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Since it was established in 1992, the Foundation has provided financial assistance to over 115 students. We invite everyone to join us at our scholarship breakfast to celebrate the accomplishments of these outstanding young men.”
