Retired White Plains Operator, Fisher, Dies at 104

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Ella Fisher, a retired telephone operator and lifelong resident of White Plains, died on. Oct. 24, a week after she turned 104.

Born on Oct. 18, 1907 to Theresa and Adolf Schlickman, she went on to work for the New York Telephone Company for more than 50 years as an operator. Fisher was also a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Franzese with husband Paul, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Fisher was predeceased by her husband Harold, her son Charles, her sisters Minnie, Julia and Tessie and her brother Adolf. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral service at 12 p.m. will immediately follow at the funeral home.
