Red Cross Invites White Plains to Send Vets Cards

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes Inc. are teaming up to deliver holiday greeting cards to those in the armed forces as well as veterans and their families this winter.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program by submitting a card by Dec. 9, which Pitney Bowes will screen for safety hazards. American Red Cross volunteers will then sort and deliver the holiday greetings to military bases, veterans’ hospitals and American homes.

Mary Young, the CEO of the American Red Cross of Metro New York North, said the “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program has been a rewarding tradition for the past five years.

“All you need is a pen and piece of paper to share you appreciation of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make each day,” Young said in a statement.

All holiday greetings should be postmarked by Dec. 9 and addressed to:
