Ex-White Plains Officer Nancy Leonard Dies at 46

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Nancy C. Leonard, a former longtime resident of White Plains, died Jan. 16 at the age of 46.

The daughter of the late Thomas F. and Elizabeth A. Leonard, she was born in 1965. Leonard served as a White Plains police officer for eight years before moving to West Palm Beach, Fla.  

There, she joined the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office where she worked as a communications officer for 14 years. Leonard received numerous commendations including "Communications Officer of the Year" in 2004. Her greatest joys were her family, friends and pets. 

Leonard is survived by her sister Lorraine (Charlie) Monaco of Yonkers, her brothers Tom (Laura) Leonard, Jr. and Tim (Gayle) Leonard of Ridgefield, Conn., three nephews and a niece.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Bernard's Church in White Plains, followed by burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
