Ex-White Plains Carpenter, Di Pilato Dies at 85

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Former White Plains resident Angelo Di Pilato died Jan. 25, one day before his 86th birthday. 

Born in Trani, Bari, Italy on Jan. 26, 1926, he was the son of Giovanni and Antoinette Lapolito Di Pilato. He married Catherine Perruccio in 1947.

Di Pilato worked as a carpenter for the White Plains Board of Education before retiring in 1988. He lived in White Plains until 2000, when he moved to Boynton Beach, Fla. A longtime New York Yankees fan, Di Pilato enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife Catherine, his daughter JoAnn (Richard) Nardi, his son John Di Pilato, five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister Tina De Vico of Harrison and his brother Victor Di Pilato of White Plains. He was predeceased by his sister Josephine Valenti and his brothers Julius and Frank Di Pilato. 

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in White Plains.
