WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Murray, of White Plains, died at her home on Oct. 19. She was 87.
Murray was born in Philadelphia, Penn. on Dec. 13, 1923 to George and Ruth Knipe. She married John Monahan Murray and lived in Rye with their six children.
As a resident, she was involved in Rye's Women's Club and Twenty-second Twig of United Hospital. Painting, singing and entertaining were among her joys.
Murray is survived by her sons Geoffrey Murray, Andrew Murray and Lawrence Murray, her daughters Patricia Murray and Paula, as well as six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John on Aug. 12, 2011 and a son, Vincent P. Murray.
A wake will be held at Graham Funeral Home in Rye on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday at The Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
