Annual Juneteenth Gala Set For White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The White Plains Juneteenth Heritage, Inc. has announced its Fourth Annual Juneteenth Awards Gala, which will be honoring outstanding individuals and a prominent organization in the African-American Community.

This year’s theme is “Still We Rise.” The Gala will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Tarrytown on April 14 starting at 6 p.m.. 

The distinguished honorees this year are the Rev. Odinga Lawrence Maddox, former Pastor of Mount Hope AME Zion Church in White Plains; Bettye Perkins, founder and chief executive officer of Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers, the Westchester and Rockland Guardians Association, Inc., and posthumously William “Bill” Carter, former commissioner of the Theodore Young Community Center. 

This year’s guest speaker will be Belinda Miles, president of Westchester Community College. Tickets are $100 if purchased by Friday, April 1; after April 1 price is $125.
