Last year, a record 2,200 seniors attended the event.

As part of the event, County Executive Rob Astorino will unveil the county’s innovative new Telehealth Intervention Program for Seniors, known as TIPS.

TIPS uses state-of-the-art technology to remotely monitor seniors’ health while also helping to save money by reducing unnecessary hospital, emergency room and other medical visits.

The salute will once again include a host of popular activities. More than 100 businesses, organizations and government agencies will be part of this year’s Business Expo, offering products and services of interest to seniors and caregivers. This year’s expo participants include Costco Pharmacy; Wyndham Vacation Resorts Inc.; Burke Rehabilitation Hospital; the Food Bank for Westchester; and The Perfect Home Care Inc.

The 17 booths at the Health and Wellness Fair will include professionals who will do screening for pre-diabetes, glaucoma and oral cancer, among other conditions. Also, there will be memory screening and training, makeup consultations, demonstrations of yoga for seniors and tai chi exercise for relaxation and balance.

Live entertainment will feature Elvis Presley and Diana Ross impersonators, Irish step dancers and Polynesian dancers in colorful costumes.

The Salute is sponsored by three Westchester County departments: Senior Programs and Services; Parks, Recreation and Conservation; and Public Works and Transportation. The Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services is a co-sponsor. For more information, call 813-6300 or visit the county website.
