With a day of riding for all levels, bike-skills training from novice riders to racers, and riding along the Bronx River, “Pedal + Party at the Parkway” is designed to be a fun party for all to enjoy. Several food vendors and a free concert featuring several musicians will also be featured during this event.

“We want to celebrate Bicycle Sundays with a huge block party for everyone to come and have fun,” said Joanne Fernandez, chairperson of Friends of Westchester County Parks. “This event gives us the opportunity to celebrate Bicycle Sundays, and help people better their bicycling skills, as well as enjoy music and food.”

As a bonus, retired Professional racer Tyler Wren will conduct a workshop on cornering and group riding for experienced riders in Westchester County Center’s East lot at 9:00 a.m. Then at 10:00 a.m., when the Bronx River Parkway opens for riders, a 30-mile ride will be held by Westchester Cycle Club’s White Plains bike safety activist Mark Lalloo.

Starting at noon, League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructors will to teach riders how to ride safe and with more confidence. Also, during a Bike Skills Workshop at the Chatterton Avenue parking lot in White Plains, off of the southbound lane of the Bronx River Parkway, novice and developing riders – from kids to adults – will learn how to fit their helmet for safety, start and stop, scan and signal, and ride in traffic.

The Westchester Cycle Club educates individuals about safety and the benefits of bicycle riding to promote community awareness and enjoyment of cycling through organized bicycling activities, tours, lectures, demonstrations and other bicycling activities for its members and for the general public.
