The 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards air 8 p.m. Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on Fox. Let us know who you'll be rooting for along with any area connections we missed.
Cross River resident Jeffrey Tambor was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy category for his role as a transgender dad in Amazon’s "Transparent,” which also received an Emmy nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Tambor previously won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the character.
Another local resident, retired talk show host David Letterman, who owns a home in North Salem, was nominated in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category for the "Late Show with David Letterman."
And Sol Miranda of Peekskill, in the cast of "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," on Netflix, has a chance to win as part of the ensemble nominated for Best Comedy. (See previous Daily Voice story on Miranda here.)
"Mad Men," the A&E series that was partially set in Westchester, is also up for an Emmy in the Outstanding Drama category. The show’s star, Jon Hamm, who recently served a stint alchohol abuse at New Canaan's Silver Hill Hospital is also nominated -- for the seventh time.
There are also lots of scenes from Emmy-nominated shows that were filmed using Westchester as a backdrop.
The new drama, "The Knick" has Yonkers to thank for a turn of the century cityscape. The Cinemax show earned several Emmy nominations including best directing, hairstyling, and makeup.
Other shows with a Westchester connection include "Orange is the New Black," "The Good Wife," "The Americans," "The Blacklist" and "Boardwalk Empire."
