The display includes a broadcast of a soundtrack of Christmas carols on an FM radio frequency to drivers who visit. Neighbors, too, have made their own displays synchronize to Barringer's music, the article says.
In Connecticut, Stamford resident Tony Pampena, whose co-firefighters in Greenwich call him "Tony Christmas," has 58,000 colored lights decorating his home, a tradition that draws strangers to its “artificial forest of white Christmas trees” among highlights, says the New York Times.
And Mary and Eugene Halliwell of Fairfield have 200 animated figures, such as Mickey Mouse, in their holiday light display. They collect donations for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the article says.
Other displays featured in the article collect funds for charities. Fantasy of Lights in New Haven raises funds for Easter Seals and Goodwill Industries.
