Sunday, March 27 is National Joe Day, although it's not designated by Congress as an official holiday, according to the National Day Calendar.

It's a holiday whose origin is murky but the message is one of fun. People celebrate by calling themselves Joe or Jo for the day or having a cup of Joe with people named Joe.

Fun Joe facts:

  • The Scottish word joe means sweetheart
  •  People started calling coffee Joe in the 1940s
  • Joe Cool evolved as a cultural icon from Snoopy
  • GI Joe was launched as a term in 1935 to represent the average solider
