Report: Nine Percent In Westchester Enrolled In Obamacare

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Nine percent of residents in Westchester County are enrolled in health insurance programs created through the exchanges in the Affordable Care Act, according to a story in Politco.

Also, Westchester County showed an increase of nine percent in enrollment during the second year of the ACA, while the state average was 12 percent.

The Politco story said the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare, has become more popular in Western New York and the Southern Tier than in other regions of the state.

In Erie County, for example, more than 15,000 residents signed up for a private health insurance plan, about 2,000 more than the first year of open enrollment. That figure represents a 16 percent increase.

Westchester County’s totals in ACA programs is in line with surrounding counties. Eight percent of the county is enrolled in Rockland County, and 7 percent are enrolled in Putnam.
