Is Your Dog Smart?
- Yes
- No
A recent study by PetBreeds.com and UBC psychology professor Stanley Coren suggests not all dog breeds are created equal when it comes to mental capacity.
PetBreeds.com ranked the 29 smartest dog breeds, and put the Border Collie at the head of the class. Border Collies, along with nine other dogs in the top tier, need fewer than five repetitions to understand a new command.
Breeds in the middle tier, which includes Miniature Schnauzers and Pembroke Welsh Corgis tend to understand new commands after five to 15 repetitions while the third tier, which includes Yorkshire Terriers, may require up to 25 repetitions to understand a new command, PetBreeds.com said.
