Are you going to shop on Black Friday?
- Yes
- No
Most stores come out with Doorbuster Sales on Black Friday and it’s not uncommon for consumers to line up hours before the store opens, according the official Black Friday website, theblackfriday.com. In recent years, stores have rolled sales to start earlier, on Thanksgiving itself, or even days before.
As people opt for online shopping over in-store experiences, Black Friday sales aren’t the unique offerings they once were, the website says. Often the same sales are available in both places, and may even be available online before store shelves.
Yet Black Friday remains a tradition neither stores nor consumers are giving up anytime soon. Retailers report some of their highest profits the day after Thanksgiving, which is likely how the day earned its name, the website says.
