More than 33 million Irish-Americans will pay homage to St. Patrick, and more than half of the U.S. population is expected to celebrate. Other fun facts,
- $35.4: Average amount each St. Patrick’s partier will spend.
- 13 million: Pints of Guinness will be consumed worldwide on St. Patrick’s Day. 70%: Increase in cabbage shipments during St. Patrick’s week.
- 82.1 percent: Of celebrators plan to wear green.
- $62,141: Median income for Irish-American households (vs. $53,657 for all households).
- 33.1 million: US residents claiming Irish ancestry (7 times the population of Ireland).
- 1737: Year of the first St. Patrick's Day Parade (it was in Boston).
