What's Happening Around White Plains This Week

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A college application Q & A for parents, a salsa class at the library and a forum on improving voter participation are a few of the events happening this week.

Monday, Sept. 24

Common Council Work Session: 6 p.m. The City of White Plains Common Council will have a work session at City Hall, 255 Main St.

Everything You Wanted to Know About College Applications: 7–8 p.m. Mollie Reznick of The College Connection gives a talk on starting the college search, followed by a Q & A. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave. 

Westchester County Board of Legislators Meeting: 7 p.m. The Board of Legislators will have its regular meeting in its chambers at the Michaelin Building, 148 Martine Ave.

Tuesday, Sept. 25

Citizenship Class: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The White Plains Library’s citizenship class will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through December. The class will prepare participants to take the U.S. citizenship exam and will cover all parts of the process. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Salsa With Addie Diaz: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Learn a cultural dance and express yourself through it. Participants will learn about the creative interaction between Latin dance and musical timing. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

White Plains Farmers' Market: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market is on Court Street between Martine Avenue and Main Street and will be open Wednesdays through Nov. 21.

Thursday, Sept. 27

Web Browser Basics: 10:15–11:45 a.m. Ready to begin exploring the Internet? Join this class to learn the basics of the Mozilla Firefox web browser, including toolbar buttons, using links, and finding information on a web page. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

“Act It Out”: 4:30–5:30 p.m. The final session of "Act It Out", a drama workshop of theater games and script reading for grades 3-6, will include a group performance at 5 p.m. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

How to Improve Voter Participation: 7 p.m. The Woman’s Club of White Plains will have a forum on how to improve voter participation. Woman’s Club of White Plains, 305 Ridgeway Ave.
