Chaired by Legislator Alfreda Williams (D-Greenburgh), the discussion will include Ross Ellis, founder and chief executive officer of Stomp Out Bullying; Elena Brown, teen ambassador of the Stomp Out Bullying campaign; and Casey Odesser, an actor with the Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company.
Staff members from the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and My Sister’s Place have also been invited to attend and join the discussion.
County Board Chairman Ken Jenkins (D-Yonkers) introduced legislation in 2011 to protect minors and students from cyber-bullying by utilizing the county’s Human Rights Commission to educate school district administrators, educators, parents and students about the prevalence of bullying online and other related issues.
The establishment of a toll-free number that may be used by victims to report cyber-bullying was also called for in the legislation, which is still being worked on in committee.
The Westchester County Board of Legislators is in the Michaelian Office Building at 148 Martine Ave., Eighth Floor Conference Room in White Plains.
