Best known for her 15-year run on the talk show, "Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee," Gifford, who now co-anchors the final hour of NBC's "Today" show, came to sign bottles of her new wine "GIFFT," and host a cooking demo with local restaurateur and chef Peter X. Kelly of Yonkers.
The event was part of Westchester Magazine's fourth annual Food and Wine Week, which comprises of 22 events over six days.
Ralph Martinelli of Ossining, publisher of Westchester Magazine and vice president of Today Media, said while previous weeks have had less than 10 events, this year they wanted to aim for something more ambitious.
"All of these events are almost sold out, so people should go out and get their tickets now," he said. "They've been very successful."
GIFFT Wines is a partnership between Gifford and Scheid Family Wines. The wines are grown from Scheid's vineyards in Monterey County, Calif.
"(The wine) is doing really well. We're rolling it out all over the country and people are just loving it," said Gifford.
"It's got a cleanness to it that you don't necessarily find in California Chardonnays," Kelly said.
Kelly's cooking demo sought to make a dish that would pair perfectly with Gifford's Chardonnay: fennel-dusted shrimp served on a zucchini pancake with a pink grapefruit glaze.
After the demo, fans were able to take a picture with Gifford, including one pint-size fan, McKenna Boysan of Stamford, Conn.
Gifford was generous with her time, answering questions about the wine and her career, and taking multiple photos and selfies with fans.
GIFFT is available at Zachy's Wine and Liquor in Scarsdale, along with other locations.
