Jeanine Parisier Plottel, professor emeritus, Hunter College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York, will present the talk focusing on the popular success of Houellebecq and how it ranks him among the successors to Victor Hugo and, closer to our time, to André Gide and Jean-Paul Sartre.
Plottel will also analyze Houellebecq's novel "Submission," ("Submission: in English) in detail.
