iPhone 5 Unveiled, Gets Shoppers Talking In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Corey Llewellyn is excited about the iPhone 5, which Apple unveiled at an event Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco and expects to release to stores in a few weeks.

Llewellyn readily admitted he is addicted to his iPhone 4 as he shopped at the Apple Store in The Westchester Mal on Wednesday. He said the iPhone makes life easier in many ways, especially with 700,000 apps in Apple’s library – the industry’s largest.

“I’m an Apps junky,” said Llewellyn, president and CEO of New York-based Digiwaxx Media, a music marketing company. "I can't wait for the iPhone 5, and I'll be on line to get it when it comes out."

Apple is calling its latest evolution the thinnest and lightest smartphone ever, with a four-inch screen that fits five rows of icons. The screen is taller but not wider, so it can still be used easily with one hand. Made of glass and aluminum, the 5 is 7.6 millimeters thin and weighs 112 grams, making it 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than the previous iPhone, according to the Apple website.

It now has LTE, allowing faster downloads and can actually be faster than the average WiFi connection at home, according to a video detailing new features on the iPhone 5.
