People's United Community Foundation Honors Westchester Grant Recipients

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, honored its grant recipients during a recognition breakfast recently at the People’s United Bank Park Avenue branch in New York City.

During its recognition breakfast, People’s United Community Foundation awarded a total of $183,000 to 19 nonprofit organizations throughout the communities it serves in New York. Eleven nonprofits in Westchester County received $49,500 in grants. Westchester County recipients included Careers for People with Disabilities, Community Center of Northern Westchester, El Centro Hispano, Family Service Society of Yonkers, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, and The Food Bank of Westchester, among others.

In total, People’s United Community Foundation awarded $883,000 in grants to 144 nonprofit organizations in the communities it serves in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine during its third grant cycle this year. The funding was distributed within the foundation’s three areas of focus, with 42 percent allocated to community development, 37 percent to youth development, and 21percent to affordable housing initiatives.
