With this expansion, there will be a total of 90 beds in Burke’s neurological rehabilitation programs. The additional services will focus on patients who have experienced a spinal cord injury, other neurological injury or those with neurological or neurodegenerative disorders.

Burke’s spinal cord injury/neurological program is designed to provide comprehensive, patient-centered rehabilitation to maximize recovery from impairments caused by traumatic and acquired spinal cord dysfunction or a neurological condition. These neurological conditions include multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Guillian-Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis and peripheral nervous system disease.

The program is led by Dr. Vincent Huang, who is board certified in both physical medicine and rehabilitation and spinal cord injury.

“Burke provides customized rehabilitation to patients who have had a life-changing illness or injury. By expanding our neurological programs, our physicians, therapists and nurses will be able to offer specialized care to even more patients, enabling them to receive targeted neurological rehabilitation to improve their function and independence,” said Dr. Mary Beth Walsh, executive medical director and chief executive officer at Burke.

Burke’s mission is to help each and every patient make their fullest possible recovery and this expansion will further fuel that mission.
