Construction On Salt Point Turnpike Bridge Over Wappinger Creek Starts The construction project on Salt Point Turnpike Bridge over Wappinger Creek is officially underway as of Tuesday, April 16, the New York State Department of Transportation says. The $3.2 million project is intended to improve safety and mobility. It will replace the bridge over Wappinger Creek in the hamlet of Salt Point, Town of Pleasant Valley, Dutchess County. The project includes a complete bridge replacement as well as an adjacent culvert. The new bridge will be equipped with metabolized steel girders with a cast-in-place bridge deck.
