Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle In Area A 37-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking along a roadway. Dutchess County resident Terrance J. Hector, 37, was struck around 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Wappinger on New Hamburg Road by a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, said Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found Hector, a resident of Wappinger, in the roadway with serious injuries and transported him to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital by EMStar, Hicks said. Car Crashes Into Bear On Route 202 In Area Police are on the scene of a car vs. bear crash in the area. The crash took place earlier Thursday morning, Sept. 12, in Rockland County when the bear darted in front of the vehicle on Route 202 between Grandview Avenue and Kimmissy Court in Ramapo. After being hit, the bear wandered into the woods, Ramapo Police said.  The sole occupant of the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Driver Accidentally Hits Gas Pedal, Crashes Into Gas Meter At Area Home A homeowner in Ramapo avoided catastrophe after mistaking the gas and brake pedal and driving through a gas meter. Police officers from the Ramapo Police Department were dispatched to a Wesley Hills home on Wednesday afternoon, where there was a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a residential gas meter. According to police, the driver, who was also the homeowner, pushed on the gas pedal, not the brake pedal, and accidentally drove through a wall while pulling into the garage.
