Orange County resident Kathy Butsko, of Newburgh, died on Monday, Nov. 29. Covid-19: New Mass Vaccination Site Opens In Orange County A pair of new mass COVID-19 vaccination sites are now accepting appointments in the Hudson Valley as New York continues to receive additional allocations of the vaccine from the federal government. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that as of Wednesday, March 17 sites are now booking appointments at SUNY Orange and the Ulster Fairgrounds in New Paltz. The site will begin administering shots daily between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. as of Friday, March 19, with each capable of vaccinating 1,000 New Yorkers daily, depending on the supply provided by the federal government. 22-Year-Old Orange County Woman Dies Days After Being Diagnosed With Flu A 22-year-old woman who was a community activist in the Hudson Valley has died after battling a flu virus. Newburgh resident Rebekah Grohl, an outspoken activist who was the campaign manager for Orange County Legislator Kevindaryan Lujan and volunteered on the campaigns of Sen. James Skoufis and Congressman Antonio Delgado, died on Sunday, Jan. 5 after being diagnosed with the flu last week. Lujan took to Facebook to remember Grohl, calling her “courageous, fierce, loving, compassionate and truly powerful.”

The device was discovered around 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18,  when the City of Newburgh police department received a phone call about a suspicious device inside of the parking garage of 3 Washington Center, said Det. Suspicious Package Leads To Evacuations, Canceled Classes At Suny-orange A suspicious package was found in the Maple Building garage on the SUNY-Orange campus in Newburgh, leading to the evacuation of buildings and the cancellation of classes Police said that a suspicious package with a device was found at the campus parking garage, prompting the evacuation on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The incident remains under investigation. County workers at a building on campus that houses the Social Security Administration Office and Orange County Social Services was also evacuated as a precaution. Mokotoff, a 66-year area resident, died at the Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill on Wednesday, Oct.17. She was 100 years old. The daughter of the late Abraham and Anna Fox, she was born on August 20, 1918, in Brooklyn. She later married her first husband, Reuben Mokotoff, a cardiologist from Manhattan, where they lived until she talked him into moving his practice to Middletown in 1954. A professor at S.U.N.Y.
