Former Detective Sergeant From Hudson Valley Dies: 'Always There To Help' A former detective sergeant from Northern Westchester who was dedicated to helping people any way he could has died.  Joseph Cindrich of Somers died on Thursday, March 16 at the age of 69, according to his obituary.  Born in 1953, Cindrich began his policing career with the Rye Police Department in 1978, serving there for two years before then joining the New Castle Police Department in 1980.  There, he stayed for nearly 20 years before retiring in 1998. Cindrich spent most of his career as a Detective Sergeant, his obituary said.  Friends and family remember …

The incident took place in the Byram River under the I-95 bridge in Port Chester around 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 9. According to the Port Chester Police, the department received a 911 reporting the man went underwater and never resurfaced. The caller referred to an area under the I-95 bridge where the man was last seen about 30 minutes prior to calling 911, police said. Man Drowns At Boat Basin In Hudson Valley A man was found dead from drowning at a boat basin in the area, according to authorities. The incident took in Rye around 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 30 at the Rye Boat Basin on Milton Road. Officers responded to the boat basin on a report of an unidentified man in the water, said Lt. Michael Anfuso, of the Rye Police. Responding officers went into the water and pulled the 76-year-old man up onto the dock.
