Man Threatens People With Knife In Area, Police Say A Hudson Valley man has been arrested for allegedly threatening others with a knife and then fighting with police. Dutchess County resident Gary Hricewich, age 33, of Hyde Park, was arrested around 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 24 after police responded to a report of a man threatening people with a knife, said Chief Robert Benson, of the Hyde Park Police. When officers arrived in the area of 241 Crum Elbow Road they found Hricewich was pulled off the side of the roadway and was having an altercation with a jogger, Benson said. Woman Killed When Tree Falls On Car In Area This story has been updated. A woman was killed after a tree fell on her car while she was driving on a stretch of Route 9 (Albany Post Road) in the area. The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. Monday, July 27 in Dutchess County just south of Mills Cross Road in Staatsburg. The woman, a 70-year-old Red Hook resident whose identity is being withheld while next of kin is notified, was traveling northbound at the time.  The tree landed approximately 40 feet off the roadway after falling directly on top of a 2019 Subaru, Town of Hyde Park Police said. Popular Area Man Found Dead At Fishing Spot A well-known area man was found dead of a possible drowning after authorities responded to a popular fishing spot in Hyde Park. Pleasant Valley resident Bruce R. Daniels, better known as "Bucky," was found around 4:36 p.m., Monday, April 1, following 911 calls to the Hyde Park Police Department for a possible drowning, said Chief Robert Benson. Police: Gunshots Exchanged After Woman, Man Demand Money, Drugs A homeowner who was shot by a woman who had come into his home with another man demanding money and drugs grabbed a shotgun and returned fire, shooting the woman. Details surrounding the double shooting unfolded around 2:11 a.m. Sunday when police received a report of a woman shot on Willow Cross Road in Hyde Park, said Hyde Park Police Lt. Robert Benson.
