The Milan and Red Hook fire department responded to the fire around 1:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11 at a home located at 345 Fitzsimmons Road, in Milan on the Columbia County Line with Dutchess County, said the Milan Fire Department. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy smoke and heavy fire from the ground through the roof, the department said. Bicyclist Killed After Crashing Off Roadway Into Tree In Area, Authorities Say A bicyclist was killed after apparently crashing off the roadway into a tree and fence in the area, authorities said. The crash happened overnight on Tuesday, Aug. 25 in Rhinebeck. Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Rhinecliff Road near River Road for a report of man found on the side of the roadway at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday. Harry C. Man Jumps To His Death From Area Bridge On New Year's Day, Police Say A 29-year-old man died after jumping to his death from an area bridge on New Year's Day, said authorities. The apparent suicide by the resident of Dutchess County took place on the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, said Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Capt. John Watterson.
