Found: Port Jervis Woman, Age 28, Had Been Missing Since July
A 28-year-old Hudson Valley woman who went missing nine-and-a-half months ago has been found.
Orange County resident Heather Callas, of Port Jervis, a mother of three who was reported missing Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, by her mother, had not been seen or heard from since Saturday, July 2.
Callas left voluntarily and was believed to have traveled to New York City, according to the Port Jervis Police Department.
On Friday, April 14, the Port Jervis PD announced Callas was located Thursday evening, April 13.
"She is safe and is no longer missing," the department said.

Missing Port Jervis Woman Found Dead, Police Say
A missing Hudson Valley woman who police have spent hundreds of hours searching for has been found dead in a wooded area.
Orange County resident, Brittany Hendershot, age 19, of Port Jervis, has been missing since Thursday, June 23, but was officially reported missing to police on Tuesday, July 5 by her mother.
Following the missing person's report, the Port Jervis Police Department initiated an investigation which revealed that Brittany was last seen in the Town of Wallkill, said Chief William Worden, of the Port Jervis Police.

Alert Issued For Missing Port Jervis 27-Year-Old Mother Of 3
Police in the Hudson Valley are asking the public for help locating a missing 27-year-old mother of three who hasn't been seen in over a month.
The Port Jervis Police Department is attempting to locate Heather Callas, of Port Jervis, who was reported missing Monday, Aug. 1, by her mother, who has not seen or heard from her daughter since Saturday, July 2.
Heather is believed to possibly be in the New York City area, said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.
She is described as being 5-foot-3, 120 pounds, with the name Brandon on the middle of her shoulder, police said.

Port Jervis Man Busted With Crack, Fentanyl, Police Say
An area has been arrested on numerous alleged drug offenses following a search.
Orange County resident Kareem Valles, age 45, of Port Jervis, was arrested on Tuesday, March 23 for multiple narcotics-related offenses.
While conducting an investigation, Port Jervis Police Department officers determined that Valles was in possession of a significant quantity of crack cocaine and fentanyl, Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.
During the search, Worden said officers seized 32 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of fentanyl, a number of alprazolam tablets, and $1,500 in cash.

A 22-year-old woman has been arrested for the murder of her newborn daughter who was allegedly left outside in freezing temperatures to die.
Orange County resident Nicole Layman, of Port Jervis, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 18, by detectives, said police.
According to police, the child -- named Sophia Grace -- was found lying around 10:30 p.m. in a dirt lot on Nov. 12, 2019, at the intersection of Hornbeck Avenue and Brooklyn Street in Port Jervis, Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden said.

An alleged drug dealer is facing federal charges after allegedly selling heroin and fentanyl that led to the fatal overdose of an area man.
Montague, New Jersey, resident Robert Ciervo, 25, has been charged for allegedly participating in a conspiracy to distribute narcotics, which resulted in the death of 36-year-old Westtown resident Richard Beauchesne earlier this year.

Port Jervis Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman found inside an apartment.
Heather Aleman was found dead inside her apartment around 6:52 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, after receiving a 911 call for an unconscious, bleeding woman, said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.
Officers responded to the Main Street apartment and found Aleman deceased inside, Worden said.
Based upon circumstances and information encountered at the scene, officers sealed off the apartment as a potential crime scene for forensic processing, he added.

Man, 22, Caught After Police Chase In Port Jervis
A 22-year-old took officers in Orange County on a short chase before being taken into custody, police said.
Port Jervis police officers say they attempted to stop Rasheem Edwards, a parolee from Mount Vernon, while he was driving in the area on Friday, Sept. 6, when he committed a violation.
Rather than stop, police said that Edwards took off, failing to comply with the officers, taking them on a high-speed chase that led them into several nearby municipalities. Officers were eventually able to track Edwards down and he was taken into custody without further incident.

A 27-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the fatal overdose death of another woman she had allegedly sold heroin with fentanyl.
Ashley Parker, 27, of Huguenot, was arrested on Friday, May 31 by Port Jervis Police after the death of a 37-year-old Port Jervis woman, said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.

A 22-year-old man is being held without bail after stabbing another man during an assault, said police.
Michael Klich, of Port Jervis, was arrested by Port Jervis Police detectives on Saturday, April 6, after an investigation into an early morning assault which took place on West Main Street, said Chief William Worden.
