Student Injured In Leg While Riding On School Bus In Orange County
Police are investigating after a Hudson Valley student riding on a school bus allegedly sustained a "superficial laceration to the leg." The incident took place in Orange County around 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5 in the area of Dubois Street, in the city of Newburgh. According to Mike Neppl, spokesman for the Newburgh Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing on a school bus. A huge brawl involving fans following a high school basketball game in the Hudson Valley triggered a large police response. The incident took place in Orange County at Valley Central High School in the town of Montgomery around 8:10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31. Do you know them? Police have identified two "persons of interest" after three people were shot following a high school football game overnight in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 in Orange County at the Newburgh Free Academy when police say a fight broke out in the north parking lot after the game against visiting Warwick Valley High School. Police are investigating after the shootings of several teens caused the closure of an area school. The Newburgh Free Academy in Orange County is closed Thursday, Nov. 18, after the City of Newburgh Police discovered four teens shot in the area on Wednesday, Nov. 17. These Hudson Valley High Schools Ranked Among Worst In State For 2018 Graduation Rates
While the Hudson Valley is home to some of the state’s finest schools, some districts have performed better than others, and have reported some of New York’s lowest graduation rates. In New York, 80.4 percent of students who started the 9th grade in 2014 graduated in June last year, according to recently released state records. That mark is a slight increase from 2017, when 80.2 percent of students graduated. Student Charged With Assaulting Teacher At Newburgh Free Academy
A 17-year-old was arrested for allegedly attacking a teacher at the Newburgh Free Academy. Terrance Melvin, of Newburgh, was arrested following the incident that took place around 2 p.m. Thursday at the school located at 201 Fullerton Ave, according to City of Newburgh Police Det. Lt. Joseph Burns.
