19: Four Schools In Orange County Report Positive Cases
Five more schools in the area are dealing with newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and staffers. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Port Jervis School District announced that a staff member at Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School reported a positive COVID-19 test in the wake of a second employee testing positive. Orange County Voters OK School Budgets, Except In One District
Every school district in Orange County, except one, approved proposed budgets for 2018-19 on Tuesday. Valley Central Schools encountered the lone loss, where taxpayers voted 987 to 849 against a proposed $104.2 million budget. The school district and Board of Education will now revise the spending proposal for a second vote before resorting to a contingency budget. As Orange County residents go to the polls on Tuesday, May 15, they'll be asked to OK a number of school budgets that seek to spend close to the state-imposed tax cap.
