DWI Crash: Driver Flees After Woman Critically Injured In Hudson Valley, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man who allegedly fled from a two-vehicle crash involving alcohol that critically injured a woman was found hiding in his home. The crash took place in Ulster County around 6:30 a.m., Friday, March 31 on Route 9W in Barclay Heights. Responding Saugerties officers found a 2018 GMC Sierra Pickup and a 2008 Ford Taurus SUV, both vehicles heavily damaged. No occupants were located within the GMC Sierra. Man Accused Of Setting Fiancé's House On Fire In Hudson Valley
A man from the region has been charged with allegedly intentionally setting his fiancé's home on fire. The fire took place in Ulster County around 1:45 a.m., on Saturday, June 22 in Saugerties. When Saugerties police officers and firefighters from the Saxton Fire District arrived on the scene they found a single-family home engulfed by fire, said Chief Joseph Sinagra of the Saugerties Police. Two Rescued From Partially Sunken Jet Skis In Region
Other than some likely bruised egos, two jet skiers are safe after being rescued from the Hudson River. Emergency crews were called around 9 p.m. Friday, May 13, with reports of two personal watercraft (PWC) operators in distress near the Rip Van Winkle Bridge in Catskill, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. Several agencies, including the US Coast Guard, responded and found one man stranded on a partially sunken jet ski, police said. Sex Offender, Felon Charged With Shooting Woman During Dispute In Area
A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a woman in the leg who was standing outside his residence while he was in a fight with another man. Ulster County resident William “Billy” Babcock, of the town of Saugerties, was arrested after he allegedly shot the woman, said Saugerties Police Chief Joseph A. Sinagra. Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Area
An apartment fire that broke out in the area was controlled in about 20 minutes. Firefighters in Ulster County responded to the Lake Katrine Apartments on Neighborhood Road at approximately 6:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The blaze broke out in the balcony of the building's second floor and was beginning to extend to the building's interior, authorities said. Man Found Dead Floating In Hudson River After Jumping From Bridge
A man was found dead floating in the Hudson River after jumping from a bridge in the area. The man was discovered after New York State Police responded to an Ulster County 911 call around 7:19 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, for a report of a person who had jumped from the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, said Trooper Steven Nevel. A passenger in a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole on Route 9W was killed. The single-vehicle crash took place around 1:22 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, in Ulster County in the town of Saugerties. A worker cutting down a tree limb was injured when the bucket truck he was suspended in rolled over onto its side.
