Two Rescued From Partially Sunken Jet Skis In Region
Other than some likely bruised egos, two jet skiers are safe after being rescued from the Hudson River. Emergency crews were called around 9 p.m. Friday, May 13, with reports of two personal watercraft (PWC) operators in distress near the Rip Van Winkle Bridge in Catskill, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. Several agencies, including the US Coast Guard, responded and found one man stranded on a partially sunken jet ski, police said. Boater Stranded Overnight Rescued By Sheriff's Marine Unit
A man who was adrift in the Hudson River after his boat engine died was rescued by members of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit. The rescue took place around 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, when deputies located a boater who was stranded overnight on the Hudson River, said Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Lt. Shawn Castano. Newly Signed NY Boat Safety Law Honors Memory Of 11-Year-Old Girl
New legislation has been signed into law improving boating safety in honor of an 11-year-old girl who died in a 2005 accident. Brianna’s Law was signed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week, which will phase in requirements that all operators of watercraft must complete a state-approved boating safety course.
