Covid-19: School In Area Closes Due To Positive Case A school in the area is closed for 10 days for in-person learning after a positive case of COVID-19. J.V. Forrestal Elementary School in Beacon will conduct remote learning through Wednesday, Nov. 11, Beacon City School District Superintendent Matt Landahl said in a letter to the community. Covid-19: Positive Test Reported At High School In The Area An area high school will be transitioning to its remote learning model for the rest of the week following a confirmed positive COVID-19 case in the building. Beacon Schools Superintendent Matt Landahl announced that the district received a report of a positive COVID-19 case at Beacon High School early on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and may have exposed others to the virus. The person who tested positive has been isolated, and Landahl said that due to federal health laws, no other information will be released. He was born July 12, 1967, in Beacon, son of John K. and the late Margaret (Peggy) Cataldo. Castaldo graduated from  Beacon High School, attended Dutchess Community College and then relocated to Manhattan to work as a bartender in upscale restaurants such as Match Uptown and L'Artisanal.  He was the long-time bartender at Sushi Samba before moving back to Beacon.
