Mount Hope Man Taken Into Custody After Threatening Officers

MOUNT HOPE, N.Y. – Mount Hope Police took an apparently suicidal man into custody on Friday morning after he also threatened to kill them, authorities said.

Officers responded to a 911 call on Jean Ridge Dr. Upon arrival James D. Fox, 26, threatened to shoot the officers and kill himself. Fox then barricaded himself in his bedroom, Mount Hope Police said. 

Fox later surrendered to the Orange County Sheriffs' Special Operations Group after speaking with a negotiator. 

Jean Ridge Drive was closed to traffic for a short time. There were no injuries and no members of the public were in any danger during the incident.

Fox was taken by Mount Hope Police to Orange Regional Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. Charges against Fox are pending, authorities said.
