Amazon Warehouse Gets Approval At Former IBM Site In Area
Hundreds of new jobs are heading to the Hudson Valley as Amazon received its final approval to open up a new fulfillment center at the former IBM campus in the Hudson Valley. On Tuesday, March 9, Amazon announced its plans to expand its operation in Dutchess County at the 631,000-square-foot site on Route 52 in East Fishkill, which is expected to create more than 500 full-time jobs and hundreds of part-time jobs. Wappingers School District Names New Superintendent
A familiar face will be at the helm of the Wappingers School District going forward following a unanimous vote by the Board of Education. The district’s Board of Education appointed interim Superintendent Dr. Dwight Bonk as the permanent head of schools following a wide-ranging search following former Superintendent Jose Carrion’s retirement in the fall. A former principal at John Jay High School, Bonk took over as interim superintendent in October following Carrion’s retirement announcement. 19: School Goes Remote After Positive Test In Area
Another school in the Hudson Valley was forced to revert back to remote learning after a positive COVID-19 case was confirmed. Acting Schools Superintendent Dwight Bonk issued a letter to parents on Friday, Nov. 6 cautioning that the district was made aware of a person inside the Wappingers Junior High School community tested positive for the virus. Bonk said the person who tested positive is in isolation, and contact tracing has begun. The infected person was last in the Junior High School building on Monday, Nov. 2.
