Store Robbery Suspect Flees Cops, Crashes Into Area Home, Police Say A 39-year-old man is behind bars accused in a string of commercial burglaries in the region. Scott Vanbergen, of Saratoga County, was arrested Friday, Nov. 17, in connection with an attempted robbery at a Stewart’s Shops in Schenectady, located on McClellan Street. Officers were called after an employee pushed a panic alarm, according to Schenectady Police. The worker told officers that a man had attempted to steal the cash register but was unsuccessful. Napanaoch Man Nabbed For Pursuit Following Domestic Incident, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was charged with assault and unlawful fleeing following a domestic incident in which he allegedly attacked a woman. Ulster County resident Robert Vanhorn, age 48, of Napanoch, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 6. According to Sgt. Colin Reynolds of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, on Thursday, Oct. 5 deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic violence attack in Napanoch. Driver Nabbed After Miles-Long Police Chase On Thruway A 31-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly leading State Police on a miles long chase on the Thruway on New Year’s Day. Troopers in Greene County initially tried to stop Manuel Diaz, of the Bronx, for a vehicle and traffic violation at around 7:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, as he drove on I-87 in the town of Catskill. Diaz refused to stop, resulting in a pursuit that lasted approximately nine miles, according to State Police. He eventually pulled over near Exit 21 in Catskill and was arrested.
