Drunk, Pickaxe-Wielding Man Breaks Into Bethel Residence, Attacks Homeowner, Police Say
A homeowner in the region is no doubt shaken up, but otherwise okay after police said a drunk man wielding a pickaxe broke into his home and attacked him.
Authorities in Sullivan County were called just before 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, with reports of an assault and attempted robbery at a home in Bethel, located on Mohawk Trail.
State Police determined that the 38-year-old suspect, Daniel Desseauve, of Highland in Ulster County, approached the home carrying a pickaxe and pushed the front door open.
Once inside, he began swinging the ax at the homeowner, according to police.

Liberty Woman, 21, Caught In Stolen Minivan Under Influence, Police Say
A 21-year-old woman who stole a minivan was reportedly stoned when police caught up to her, according to state troopers.
Troopers observed the vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Liberty, on Mahogany Lane on Friday, Sept. 18.
According to police, Sullivan County resident Marissa J. Ghelberg, of Liberty, was under the influence of marijuana when she was pulled over.
Ghelberg was charged with the felony of fourth-degree larceny and the misdemeanor of driving while ability impaired by drugs. She was released, and scheduled to reappear in the Town of Liberty Co…
