Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, with reports of a Wynantskill home on fire on Bellemead Street, according to the Wynantskill Fire Department. Recall Issued For 226K Smoke-Carbon Monoxide Alarms That Don't Sound Alert For Fires More than 226,000 faulty combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are being recalled because they may fail to provide alerts if a fire was to break out. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that seven Kidde models - Series 2040, 2050, 2060, and 2070 smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms (see above) - are included in the recall. Two-Alarm Fire Destroys Home In Area A two-alarm fire destroyed an area home, leaving one person homeless. The fire happened Monday, Oct. 7 in Orange County at a home in Monroe on Mid Oaks Drive. The blaze moved quickly due to the fact the home was made of wood frame construction, said Mombasha Fire Company Chief John Scherne. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire pushing out the side of the home with thick black smoke roaring out the front doorway, the department said.
